On May 23rd 2010 Don drove ‘Runningblade’ at an average speed of 87.833mph over the measured mile on Pendine Sands. A peak speed of 94mph was recorded on the soft and wet sands of Pendine. The team was put together by Steve Vokins from the National Motor Museum and Don was invited to be the driver.

A small dedicated team with very little money overcame bad conditions on the beach. The record attempt was watched by Bobby Cleveland, the previous record holder, invited over from America.!

With thanks to Steve Vokins, Steve Hatt, Pete Farrell,Ralph Hosier Jon Williets, and Clare.
